Portfolio update May 2019
Friends and fellow investors, another month has passed and this means it’s time for a new portfolio update!
May has been very good to me in every single way. Personally, professionally and financially.
Personally: I took a week off in May which was spent traveling.
Professionally: I got promoted at work. Being valued for what you do is always great and in this case it came with a nice salary increase as well.
Financially: Another new passive income all time high.
Additionally I published two blog posts:
In other news, in May I decided on the size of my emergency fund and as a result made another set of deposits:
Total deposits amounted to € 16,100.00

My income statement continues moving upwards, let’s dig into the numbers!
Crowdlending Portfolio Income
Crowdlending income for May was € 687.31 (+ 201.13). The upwards trend continues! For the most part I’m very satisfied with the May outcome.
My first goal is € 1,500.00 monthly income, which means I’m currently at 45.82% (+ 13.41%) towards my goal.
Crowdestate income in May was € 184.82 (+ 117.09). Income has increased and reached an all time high, mainly due to two quarter payments. Finally a nice spike in my Crowdestate returns!
One project is falling significantly behind payment schedule. The sponsor communicated his intention to be back on track with payments shortly.
In May I invested € 1,100.00 with Crowdestate spread across two projects.
Find more information about Crowdestate in my review.
Crowdlending income from Mintos in May was € 34.41 (– 6.93), including € 2.86 cashback for my first time deposit. April included a larger cashback payout, so I’m not worried about the decline.
May was my third full month investing with Mintos. The rates have risen by roughly 2% on average. I’m enjoying investing with loan originator Varks for 14.5% return on investment. Mintos is a reliable part of my portfolio and I highly recommend the platform.
Mintos currently has a summer pre-holiday cashback offer going up to 1%, until the 19th of June!
Signing up with Mintos through this link provides you another cashback bonus of 1% for 90 days.
Grupeer income in May was € 111.52 (+ 7.22) and is delivering yet again as expected. I barely spend any time maintaining my account, auto invest does it all for me!
I’ve just updated my auto invest setting to get the most out of the upcoming summer cashback offers. Loans from loan originators PlanetaCash and Finsputnik provide an additional 1% returns. Investing in development loans also provides an extra 1% returns, but only on the amount in excess of € 5.000. The funds can be split over multiple development loans.
In other news, I absolutely loved Grupeer’s blog post on the fall of Lendy. Their own considerations as well as the opinion of several influencial P2P bloggers were highlighted. However, it’s a bit of a shame Grupeer didn’t use the opportunity to provide a deeper insight in their precautions.
Nevertheless an interesting post, I suggest reading it!
Envestio income for May was € 79.22 (+ 0.59). Another good month with Envestio! Returns were on time and as expected. I’m a big fan of Envestio, eventhough the projects are completely funded very fast.
I invested another € 1,000.00 in May, spread over two projects. The reliable cash flow combined with high end returns are enough to keep me interested in the platform.
I’m planning to publish my Envestio Review shortly, so stay tuned for that folks.
Find below one of the projects I invested in!
FASTINVEST income was € 10.87 (– 0.59). A few loans were late and were bought back early June. So the decline is nothing to worry about, in the green next month!
Eventhough I like FASTINVEST, it’s hard to ignore some of the higher end returns from other platforms. I’ll definitely stay invested with FASTINVEST to keep track of its performance. The returns are reliable and on time. The platform does the job and does it well.
Swaper income was € 57.23 (+ 18.80). I really like Swaper, simple and effortless. Depending on the size of your portfolio, you may need to increase the maximum amount invested per loan. I did and experience hardly any cashdrag lately.
In other news, the loyalty bonus has kicked and any new loans will return 14% now! I expect to see increased returns from in the July portfolio update onwards.
Viventor income was € 58.85 (+ 31.92). The first buyback guarantees are starting to kick in, which boosts my monthly income. It still takes another month for Viventor to shows its full potential, because the buyback guarantee is 60 days, compared to 30 for Swaper and Robocash.
Contrary to my statement last month, I invested € 500.00 with Viventor in May. The main reason is the increase of returns, up to 16% on short term business loans with buyback guarantee.
Robocash income was € 25.88 (+ 12.25). From this month onwards I expect Robocash to produce a steady cashflow of roughly € 20.00. The catch up we see in May income is due to the buyback guarantees kicking in for the first time.
I’m pleased with Robocash, it’s as simple and as hands off as it gets. The one downside is the fixed interest rate of 12%. One could argue there’s better opportunities out there.
Crowdestor income for May was € 69.18 (+ 13.70). I’m still very happy after my second full month investing with Crowdestor. There were no late payments and several attractive projects launched.
Keep it going Crowdestor! I deposited € 3,500.00 in May, spread over 4 projects.
To show an example, I’ve invested € 500.00 in the Biomass Boiler House.
Kuetzal income for May was € 48.25 (+ 0). All payments were received on time and in full. I was also very pleased to see Kuetzal launched several very attractive new projects, up to 21%. The newer projects come with a buyback guarantee of principle amount and interest up to two month.
I deposited € 9,500.00 which I spread over three projects.
TFGCrowd is a new platform in my portfolio. It’s an Estonian start-up and has launched several interesting projects, up to 17%. TFGCrowd income as € 7.08 (+ 7.08)
In May I invested € 500.00 in Laya Cosmetics. The project comes with a buyback guarantee on the principle amount and one month of interest. The guarantee kicks in after 30 days of late payment.
My savings rate for May was below the target yet again, 58.07% (+ 27.70%). Income was higher than normal due to holiday pay, however my expenses were quite a bit higher as well. As mentioned in the opening paragraph, I took a week off work and traveled abroad.
My target for the year is 75%, however this becomes increasingly harder to achieve. In June I have another trip scheduled to visit family abroad.
See more details about my savings rate here.
Conclusion Portfolio Update
In a way the deposits in May have set the baseline for my income going forward. Deposits were significant, € 16,100.00, after I decided on the size of my emergency fund.
- New high for monthly income
- Deposits mostly with Kuetzal
- Below average savings rate due my holiday
Let’s see if June can be the first month which provides a monthly income higher than € 750.00, 50%!! of my first goal.
Stay tuned for the June update!
